What is a shower steamer?

If you haven't heard of a shower steamer yet, you're bound to soon!

Shower steamers (also know as shower bombs) are taking the world of bath and body products by storm. Shower steamers are small tablets that release unique blends of essential oils when placed in a shower. The steam and hot water spray activate the dry ingredients (which are similar to a bath bomb) and oils, releasing the essential oils aroma into the air to be inhaled. Shower steamers are often used for aromatherapy and can be scented with various essential oils to promote different effects such as relaxation, energy, or respiratory support.

So how do you use a shower steamer? Simply place your shower steamer on the floor of your shower, in a soap dish or on a ledge, away from the direct stream of water but where the water spray can bounce off your body and reach the shower steamer to activate it. As the shower warms up, the steamer will dissolve and release its aroma, filling the shower with a relaxing or invigorating scent. You may be able to get multiple showers out of 1 steamer, depending on where you position your shower steamer and how long you shower for.

The best scents for shower steamers depend on personal preference and what effect you are wanting from of your shower steamer? Some popular scents include:

  1. Eucalyptus and menthol for sinus clearing
  2. Rosemary for clarity
  3. Lavender for calmness
  4. Orange and clove for mood-boosting
  5. Peppermint to de-stress

It's best to try a few different scents to see which one you like best.
